Domestic abuse and stalking are broad terms used to describe a range of behaviours – with violence being a small part – that take place within an intimate or family relationship. Domestic abuse and stalking can affect anyone and there will be occasions when this abuse affects those in the work place. This session will provide you with some practical guidance of how you can support your employees during this difficult time.

Lucy Kay (Stalking Service Manager) and Gemma Green (Service Manager for Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence) work for Aurora New Dawn, a feminist led charity dedicated to ending violence against women and children, and hidden violence. Since 2011 Aurora New Dawn has offered safety, support, advocacy and empowerment to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking. They offer a variety of services and are involved in supporting feminist campaigns to end male violence against women.

The session will be split equally between discussions on domestic abuse and stalking:

  • What is domestic abuse
  • The impact of domestic abuse
  • What is stalking – and what makes it a unique crime
  • The impact of stalking
  • Using internal policies and processes
  • External support services

NB – At this event, Liz Earle Beauty Co. is kindly donating supplies of their products to women who are currently staying in refuges following domestic abuse.
